We light theatre, dance and opera in and around Philadelphia โ and we build the software we wanted while doing it.
Plots, sections and paperwork, and the show itself. Opera, dance, musicals and drama, from a black box to a proscenium house.
See the work โA free light plot editor for rigs small enough not to want a subscription. Draws to USITT RP-2, works out where the light lands, and gives you the paperwork.
Download it โA plot is a set of promises about where light will be, and most of them are arithmetic somebody has to get right before the first focus call. We would rather do that arithmetic honestly, name where every figure came from, and say plainly when something has not been measured.
That is also why the software exists. plotedit started as the tool we needed for a small show and is now free for anyone, under the GPL, with the source open to read. It has had code from outside.
Designing a season, hanging a show, or trying the editor โ all of it reaches the same place.
Availability, rates, a plot for a show you are putting up.
